Jane Eyre is originally from Australia, with a mother hailing from Norway – but even 20-odd years in France does not take the Aussie out of this girl. Jane is frisky- and I love this – as it gives a bit of spice to the sometimes excessive French politeness. She started out as a hairdresser, but relatively early she found her way into wine and Burgundy. Jane arrived in Burgundy in 1998, and soon she was making wines at Domaine Newman … getting some top end pinot wines to her CV. In 2011 Jane started her own négociant business, and she is now making some truly fabulous wines in her estate in Cissey. In 2026 she entered the world of an old and prestigious estate, as she took over the reins at Comte Armand. Very exciting indeed to see her trying to keep the big Epenots enjoyable even with global warming. I think Jane is the girl to do it. I adore the wines Jane makes … they are light-footed and with a beautiful complexity … made for enjoyment … vin d`émotion to me.
