Visit to Domaine Grivot – Tasting the 2024s from tank

Domaine Grivot is normally quite predictable and constant, with the same wines showing strong year after year.

2024 is, however, somewhat different due to the difficult and unpredictable growing season. This is the case for all domains. Not even Grivot was spared.

Like many other estates, this is not an easy vintage. Good wines have been made, but you have to choose carefully to strike gold or even silver.

The 2024s are winemakers’ wines … shaping the 2024 into something drinkable and enjoyable. Grivot succeeded, though they struggled at the bottom of the range.

As always, Mathilde Grivot presents the wines efficiently and charmingly; it is always a pleasure to visit here.

Light … and slightly watery midpalate …

Domaine Jean Grivot Vosne-Romanée 2024

Will gain some intensity during élévage … a light Vosne with some nice spicy notes.

Domaine Jean Grivot Nuits-Saint-Georges Aux Lavières 2024

Quite intense …. Oak is more present with a bit more fruit. Somewhat diluted, but it works well with the style. Has quite a bit of reduction.

Domaine Jean Grivot Nuits-Saint-Georges Les Charmois 2024

Richer with more density … deep fruit … more intense fruit actually … starts to make an impression for 2024.

Domaine Jean Grivot Vosne-Romanée Bossières 2024

Nice fruit expression … a fine and sweet midpalate note … nicely balanced …. Quite impressive for the vintage

Domaine Jean Grivot Vosne-Romanée Les Chaumes 2024

More extensive taste … a bit more oak-forward … lovely midpalate and with time this will put on some weight.
