There is a lot of new names in the updated guides … and I always try to present new name with a true potential.
Here are my discoveries over the years … some very fine … others perhaps dissapointing seen in the global scheme of things.
The flavour of the Year past winners
Charles Boigelot in 2025
Benjamin Benoit – Le Cellier Saint-Benoit in 2024
Bastian Wolber in 2023
Les Horées in 2022
Domaine Cassiopée in 2021
Marthe Henri Boillot in 2019
Most of these a small estates with lesser vineyards … lovely wines, if you can drink basic Burgundies with a pleasure and a smile … we are talking Bourgogne rouge and blanc … Hautes Côtes …
I love these wines … despite I can see the greatness in the lovely wines of Edouard Confuron – where you really have a chance to combine talent with terroir!
Sadly the focus on 1er crus and Grand crus are blocking the experiences of many collectors …many classified wines are made with very little passion or talent for that matter.
All big talents should have a great terroir … instead of having producers like Louis Latour and Mongeard Mugneret … occupiyng land with their hopeless and often tedious or even awfull wines.
Just like when you see Domaine Chicotot hording vineyards in Nuits-Saint-Georges taking them from talented estates … leaving the wines to the dark missery of Chicotot. … disgraseful!
Finding new stuff is essential as is getting rid of talent free producers who makes wines without energy and spirit.
My forcus in 2026/27 is to look closer at the link between the personality of the vigneron and the wine … what are the character of the person, the personality and the motivations for making wines. A lot of knowledge is hidden within these emotional parameters.
Some producers are motivated by making great wines … others by horading vineyard and demolishing others possibilities of making great wines by taking away their vineyards.
The good energy comes from those who have the ambition to produce great wines.
Talents to come
First new talent that springs to mind is Leovila …
We also have new names like Ledy Vins who is very visionary and talented, this is really an estate on the move … with Aurélie making lovely and enjoyable wines.

- A true vin d’émotion – a Burgundy of passion

- A potential vin d´émotion - frais et léger
