The Chambolle Musigny Les Amoureuses 2016 is a rare bird, but this is not the regular cuvée: It’s the special Cuvée Blonde made only in 2016 – and in very limited numbers. The Cuvée Blonde comes from the top part of the Groffier plot of Les Amoureuses – a part with limestone soil – while the bottom part of the plot has more clay. It’s a more mineral wine than the regular 2016 Amoureuses with a stonier stance and more limestone rockiness. It will presumably require more time to unfold, but this could well turn out to be a more exciting cuvée for the terroir geeks. Thanks Nicolas for serving this at the tasting in Copenhagen.
