The Corton view

The rain on August 27th - 49 mm in NSG - left the vineyards muddy and heavy.
The NSG Aux Saints Juliens of Pierre-Olivier Garcia is even in muddy conditions one of the most beautiful plots in the area with its high trellis setup (160 cm).
The 2025 grapes showed beautifully even after the rain … good vineyard work does pay off.

Aug 28

Wednesday August 27 … few have started in Vosne. DRC and Bizot …and Meo who began in the Corton vineyard. Rain and thunder brewing in the sky.
Aug 27

Harvest pre-start in Grands Echezeaux … DRC picking presumably young vines. Aubert de Villaine overlooking the work, the vines and the harvest vibe.
Aug 27

Domaine Leflaive pushed hard to finish the harvest in the dry. Same did Domaine Chartron ...
Aug 27

Always a treat to meet the Coffinet-Duvernays. Lovely harvest in Blanchots … yields are however low in Chassagne …indeed a mysterious vintage
Aug 25

First day require firm concertation even after 10 years …
Aug 25

Charles Boigelot is well underways with the harvest of the whites. The reds will be next hopefully before the rain and thunder in two days. The whites seem promising … talent rarely let you down
Aug 25

Harvest at Pierre-Henri Rougeot in Meursault … whites are showing fine and the reds to come. Big variation between the plots … challenging at times … but Rougeot always get there in the end.
Aug 25

10 years with Baie-par-Baie 🥂. We are talking about the man in the middle - Pierre-Olivier-Garcia - who has evolved and created this style of red Burgundy to perfection.
Warm congratulations to Pierre-Olivier Garcia from the Ladoix side of Corton.

A new and promising estate in Nuits-Saint-Georges. It is the creation of Aurelie Ledy and produces some lovely wine from some very interesting terroirs … I am thrilled - more to come!
Aug 22

Trip to the top of Le Coteau des Bois … wow quite a climb walking in the footsteps of Faure and Dulau
Aug 22

Jean-Marc Roulot at press as usual during the harvest. Good ripeness … and crucial to harvest while the acidity is sufficient. Roulot have started with the 1er crus … and with a smaller team. From now the full team is in place for the rest of the vineyards.

heading south from Meursault ...
Aug 20

Rain … today ….Wednesday and Thursday.
this could really change a lot … will affect the grapes harvested (yeast) and could change the rest of the ripening process if the vines are unblocked by the cooler weather and the rain. Exciting 😉🧐
Aug 19

A Montrachet trip before the rain …
Aug 19

About one week from picking on the lower part of Corton … we need to see the rain this week … could give the vineyards a breather after weeks of heat
Aug 19

A delightful Grivot … the 2019s such elegant and vivid wines … will keep … but already show the magnitude of pinot noir… damn its good! ♥️♥️
Aug 18

Harvest began yesterday - presumably amongst others - @domaine.cg.boillotvins harvested Meursault Gouttes d’Or …

Hard core aligoté … 2021 in its reductive form. Need a delicate and precise dish to really excel. Not normally my favourite from Galeyrand … but this worked brilliantly.
Aug 8

The Champ Forey 2022 is a brilliant Aligoté … one of the very best in this vintage. Rich and lively with enough energy and depth to accommodate even rich dishes. Frais et legér
