I rarely taste old white Burgundies – and the Domaine Fabien Coche 1978 seem to qualify for this category. It’s one of those wines … clearly it’s too old, but given air it had moments when the oxidation actually was reduced to an acceptable level. The fruit is still there – but quite some oxidation from the start – getting better in the glass – and for a moment I had hopes – sadly the wine collapsed again – into the oxidized darkness … but we gave it the proper chance – so close.
