I have followed Domaine du Comte Liger-Belair since the beginning. When Louis-Michel started out with a few core family vineyards and a clear inspiration from his old mentor Henri Jayer. The wines are still expressive and with a clear reference to family, history and Vosne-Romanee. Unique when adding the Biodynamic approach … a statement and a utter joy. Vin d`émotion – bien sûr.

- Visit to Domaine du Comte Liger-Belair – Tasting the 2025sThe time has come for one of the highlights of the tasting season … the tasting of the latest vintage from Comte Liger-Belair – the already fabled 2025s. It is no secret that the Comte Liger-Belair wines are among my favourites in Burgundy, and with the expansion of the portfolio from 2022 and onwards, this tasting ...
- The Story Behind The 1923 La Tâche Bottled by Maison NicolasBurgundy is a lot about history old producers and old wines … it sets the scene for the wines we drink today and the Burgundy we love. - Burgundy reflections – ready to give …Recently, a group of people on Instagram discussed the maturity of different Roumier wines … a both relevant and interesting topic. I have been collecting Roumier wines since 1993 and still regularly taste the young Roumier wines. I am a fan of the genuine and honest style of Roumier… although my age has led me to ...
- Domaine du Comte Liger-Belair 2021 – retastedSometimes pure luck strikes … and one stumbles into a tasting of the Domaine du Comte Liger-Belair 2021 lineup. Louis-Michel with Henry and Brune Liger-Belair Please note this was an informal and quick tasting at the Comte Liger-Belair Cuverie in Vosne-Romanée. Very enjoyable to taste with Henry and Brune Liger-Belair alongside Louis-Michel and Constance Liger-Belair – indeed ...
- Domaine du Comte Liger-Belair 2024s from caskDomaine du Comte Liger-Belair … a new vintage … the 14th since I began visiting Louis-Michel and his fabulous estate in 2012. The 2024 is the smallest vintage in Domaine history (corrected for expansions of the vineyard portfolio) – only 20% of the normal production – in a year with loads of mildew and other problems ...
- “Taille tot, taille tard, rien ne vaut la taille de mars” “Taille tot, taille tard, rien ne vaut la taille de mars” is an old saying (Prune early or prune late, nothing’s as good as pruning in March)!. We now have March 3rd, and both DRC, Louis-Michel Liger-Belair, and not surprisingly Domaine Leroy still have the top vineyards left unpruned. The tendency is later pruning, which is confirmed by ...
- Domaine du Comte Liger-Belair 2023sComte Liger-Belair is sort of the origin of Winehog, as it was at this very Domaine where Winehog made its debut at a tasting with Louis-Michel Liger-Belair, Clive Coates and Roy Richards the former agent of Louis-Michel Liger-Belair. Some very competent Burgundy tasters … and this afternoon gave me the idea to start Winehog back in ...
- Domaine du Comte Liger-Belair – First Taste of the 2023sOne of my most exciting tastings this month was the first sampling of the 2023s from Comte Liger-Belair, including a number of new wines from the estate’s 2022 expansion. With the ’22 vintage, Louis-Michel Liger-Belair got new plots in Grands Echezeaux, Vosne-Romanée Les Malconsorts, La Croix Rameau, and Aux Reas. He also added to his existing ...
- Les Suchots: The Flamboyant Vosne 1er CruOne of the largest and most challenging 1ers crus is Vosne-Romanée Les Suchots. Wine from this vineyard is produced by more than 100 domaines and negociants. Les Suchots is quite a diverse vineyard, with some areas showing great complexity while others have fewer of the qualities of a great terroir. Add to this producers that range ...

With the 2022 vintage Louis-Michel Liger-Belair got new plots in Grands Echezeaux, Vosne-Romanée Les Malconsorts, La Croix Rameau, and Aux Reas. Furthermore, he ...
- Visit to Domaine du Comte Liger-Belair – Tasting the 2021sThe Winehog’s first decade began at this fine estate at a memorable tasting with some of the great wine personalities of the time: Roy Richards, wine merchant extraordinaire; and the great and sadly now late Clive Coates – at the time perhaps past his peak, but still an influential writer. Louis-Michel Liger-Belair just before opening ...
- On the Table, In the Glass #35: The Need for IndulgenceLet me be clear: Wine is about hedonism and joy, and it is always timely and appropriate to open a vin d’émotion. The prices of some wines are astronomical, but it is rarely the fault of the winegrower, who often gets less than 20% of the inflated grey-market price. What! How can you open … ? Wine ...
- Domaine du Comte Liger-Belair Vosne-Romanée Clos du Chateau 2013The 2013 Liger-Belair Clos du Chateau is firing on all cylinders, and is a magnificent wine, currently exploding with Vosne spices and airy, energetic fruit. It’s very expressive and exuberant, flashing all its scents and spicy notes as a great tribute to Vosne-Romanée. While not a big wine, it is a true, core expression of Vosne ...
- Terroir Insight: Domaine du Comte Liger-Belair Grands EchézeauxGrands Echzeaux is one of the more prominent grand crus which sits just below the very top tier – meaning Romanee-Conti, La Romanée, La Tâche, Richebourg, Romanée Saint-Vivant, and Musigny. It is a brilliant terroir, and is perhaps even a bit overlooked, although new producer names in this vineyard have led to increased consumer focus on ...
