On my November trip to Burgundy I had the pleasure to visit Domaine Dublère and taste the 2013s.
A little background – Domaine Dublère was founded in 2003 by the American journalist Blair Pethel. The first vintage was 2004, and the domaine has since then gradually expanded the production and the portfolio of wines.
Domaine Dublère now makes quite a large a selection of both white and red Burgundies – all of very high quality given the individual appellation. All the wines are very pure, intense, quite light-footed and with a precise and transparent expression of the terroir – in other words more Burgundian than many of the local producers.
I have followed Domaine Dublère since the 2007 vintage and always loved the transparent and terroir driven style – in my view Blair is among the most talented vignerons in the region. Or simply put … I really like these wines.
Notes from tasting November 5th 2014
The white 2013s from Domaine Dublère show fine promise – with a lovely balance between the vibrant acidity and the aromatic fruit. They show more energy and nerve than the lovely 2012s at the same stage … but quality wise they are on quite equal terms.
To the notes ….
Domaine Dublère, Bourgogne Blanc – Les Millerandes 2013
The Bourgogne Blanc 2013 is a lovely effort for this level. The nose is offering quite expressive notes of ripe orchard fruits brought forward by a citrus infused minerality. On the palate lovely ripe fruit finely balanced by the nice crisp acidity. A lovely Bourgogne Blanc in the making.
(Drink from 2016) – Good (84 – 86p) – Tasted 05/11/2014 from cask.

Domaine Dublère, Savigny Les Vergeless 2013
The Savigny Les Vergeless is one of my favorite whites from this appellation. In the nose lovely orchard fruits, spiced by crisp citrus notes and a lovely chalky minerality. On the palate pure and quite weighty fruit – well balanced by the lovely acidity and the interesting chalky minerality. It’s focused and very long for this level. Highly recommended.
(Drink from 2018) – Good+ (86 – 88p) – Tasted 05/11/2014 from cask.

Domaine Dublère, Meursault Les Crotots 2013
The Les Crotots has become one of my favorite whites from Dublere. The bouquet is bursting with cool yellow fruit and citrus infused minerality. The palate offer a lovely cool fruit – fine weight for this level with a lovely vibrant nerve from the fine acidity and the crunchy minerality. Impressive expression of terroir for this level … a truly lovely Meursault village.
(Drink from 2022) – Very Good+ (89 – 91p) – Tasted 05/11/2014 from cask.
—
Domaine Dublère, Chassagne Montrachet Les Chaumees 2013
The Chassagne Les Chaumees is a mineralic powerhouse … a gorgeously terroir driven wine. In the bouquet white and yellow orchard fruits, with a citrus infused stony minerality. On the palate a lovely cool and deep fruit – vibrant acidity and a very crunchy minerality. Love this wine with it’s nerve, crystal clear fruit and powerful minerality.
(Drink from 2022) – Fine+ (91 – 92p) – Tasted 05/11/2014 from cask.
—
Domaine Dublère, Chassagne-Montrachet Les Chenevotte 2013
The Chassagne Chenevottes is deeper and more dense than Les Chaumees. In the nose notes of white orchard fruits and a citrus infused more finely grained minerality. On the palate quite deep and intense fruit – a more weighty wine than the Chaumees. The excellent 2013 acidity is providing a lovely nerve and energy here … a classic Chassagne in the making.
(Drink from 2022) – Fine (90 – 92p) – Tasted 05/11/2014 from cask.
—
Domaine Dublère, Meursault Les Charmes 2013
The Meursault Les Charmes is showing fine promise. In the bouquet lovely ripe fruit spiced with hints of almonds and hazelnuts. On the palate rich and intense fruit … focused and energized by the powerful and vibrant 2013 acidity. Really like the nerve and energy here .. a lovely Charmes.
(Drink from 2022) – Fine+ (91 – 93p) – Tasted 05/11/2014 from cask.
—
Domaine Dublère, Corton Charlemagne 2013
The Corton Charlemagne 2012 from Domaine Dublere is a magnificent effort. In the bouquet delicate orchard fruits with notes of pear, pineapple and citrus – well supported by a crisp acidity and the powerful minerality. On the palate refined and almost creamy fruit .. perfectly balanced by the powerful minerality and the very crisp acidity of the 2013 vintage. Love the nerve and mineralic tension in this wine … a very fine effort indeed.
(Drink from 2027) – Very Fine (93 – 94p) – Tasted 05/11/2014 from cask.
New wines from Chablis
Domaine Dublère have two new wines from Chablis in the 2013 lineup – Chablis Les Bougros and Chablis Valmur. The Chablis Les Preuses is not a part of the offerings in 2013, as the very old vines on Les Preuses have been uprooted.
Domaine Dublère, Chablis Les Bougros 2013
The Chablis Bougros is the first of the two new Chablis wines. The nose offer rich yellow fruit – with notes of tyellow fruit, acacia and hazelnuts – spiced by a lovely chalky minerality. On the palate rich and focused with a lovely vibrant acidity and a fine chalky expression of terroir. A rich but classic Chablis in the making.
(Drink from 2020) – Fine+ (91 – 93p) – Tasted 05/11/2014 from cask.
—
Domaine Dublère, Chablis Valmur 2013
The Chablis Valmur is a rich and forward Chablis. In the bouquet expressive yellow fruit spiced with accia and hazelnuts – quite openly knit with a citrus infused chalky minerality. On the palate rich and weighty – quite vineous and expressive. A powerful and aromatically rich Chablis in the making.
(Drink from 2020) – Fine+ (91 – 93p) – Tasted 05/11/2014 from cask.
