The 2023 vintage is tricky as the ripeness builds very fast at the end, causing many vignerons to have problems with overripe phenolics.
To combat this eventuality, Domaine Roulot has increased the harvesting teams from 35 to 50 pickers a few years back, and this has given more degrees of freedom regarding the harvest.
The 2023s at Domaine Roulot are surprisingly free from overipe phenolics … a treat with little or almost no problems with the phenolic ripeness.

The 2023s can be vivid and quite elegant if the ripeness is not too advanced. The high yields normally ensure that we don’t have too-high ripeness of the grapes … if harvest was done à point.
Let’s taste … Nothing more to say, really, so – to the notes!
Domaine Roulot 2023 tasting on April 15th 2025
Jean-Marc Roulot Bourgogne Blanc 2023
The Bourgogne Blanc is a bit on the ripe side … rich but still some zappiness. It’s generous and lively but slightly warm, meaning quite a hint of global warming like many other years. Has a this slightly yellow note to the fruit … not bad, but borderline.
(Drink From 2025) – Very Good – (87-88p)
Jean-Marc Roulot Meursault 2023
The Meursault village is from different plots in the appellation, but it mostly comes from Clos de la Baronne. It’s quite cool and classic … the extra pickers have made magic with this wine. A wine that can serve many purposes … from apéro to Turbot. Good combination perhaps!
(Drink From 2032) – Very Good – (89p) –
Domaine Roulot Meursault Les Clous 2023
The Les Clous plot is new coming from the sale and exchange of vineyards between Bouchard Père et Fils and Roulot (and de Montille). It still has a note that reminds me of Bouchard Les Clous, but this could possibly disappear. Never liked Les Clous much before … hope it can change!
(Drink From 2030) – Very Good – (89p)

To say that Meursault Meix Chavaux is overlooked is not correct … however, the village ...

- Visit to Domaine Roulot – Tasting the 2022sThe 2022s from Domaine Roulot are quite sensual and generous wines. They are intense and focused, but they still have a lovely hedonistic touch … they aim to please, so to speak. They are more generous than the 2020s, but do not possess the same firm structure. They are on the slightly flamboyant side … a ...
- Domaine Roulot – Tasting the 2021s; Forward to the Past! The 2021 vintage in many ways comes from an annus horribilis, especially if you are located in Côte de Beaune and make white wine. The spring frost in April struck hard and also somewhat randomly, leaving some vineyards denuded of fruit (Domaine Roulot lost 50% to the frost alone). Then came humid weather, with ...
- Visit to Domaine Roulot – Tasting the 2020sThe Domaine Roulot 2019s were sensual and on the slightly exotic side, and it was, therefore, difficult to believe that the 2020s could be even better and more refined. But they are. The Roulot ’20s have an airy effortlessness that makes them beautifully refined, while still maintaining the impressive intensity found in the vintage. Paul Delorme of ...
